Success for JKS England referees
Geoff Dixon and Rob Edwards, both members of the JKS England Referee Development Team, attended the EKF Referee Course and England Squad Training session held on Sunday 29th March in Barnsley.
To maintain accreditation as part of the EKF Refereeing department, qualifications have to be renewed every two years, and to advance, participants must take part in courses, practical training sessions, sit written exams and be assessed at National tournaments.
Rob Edwards needed 80% in his written exam to progress from Kumite Judge 'B', to Provisional Kumite Judge 'A' and did so by scoring 90%. Rob was previously not qualified to judge kata at EKF events, but has gained Provisional Kata Judge 'B' achieving a 94% result against an 80% pass mark.
Geoff Dixon maintained his status as a Kata Judge 'A' with 94% (90% pass criteria) and has progressed from Referee 'B' to Provisional Kumite Referee 'A' again with 94%
Both Rob and Geoff will be assessed at the EKF Nationals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in April and will both be looking to transfer their 'provisional' qualifications to full passes.
