Once again the event ran smoothly with five areas fully utilised between 9am and 6pm. This was, by a long margin, the most successful competition in the twelve years of the event. We would like to thank Head of JKS England Alan Campbell Sensei and Wendy Preston for hosting the event. Also, a huge thank you goes to Head of the referee’s development program, Geoff Dixon and his team for delivering on the day. Finally a big thank you must go to all competitors, coaches and supporters for making the event so special.
As usual we had excellent support from JKS Scotland, JKS Wales and JKS Ireland. Also thank you to the competitors and coaches from other associations that supported the event including a contingent from Slovakia.
There were some excellent performance during the day and in the Senior Kumite events, normal service seemed to have been resumed after the 2012 and 2013 winners, John Douglas froom Scotland and Ashley Scott-Heald from England were crowned champions again.
The event culminated with the now traditional 5 man team kumite match between England and Scotland with Scotland taking the match 3-2 on the last fight…an exciting end to a very special event.
