Success at the International Banzai Cup
JKS England had a Squad of 16 competitors head to Berlin over the weekend of the 29th & 30th September for the annual Banzai Cup. This is one of the largest competition in Europe and this year attracted almost 1,600 entries from 28 countries.
There were some great performances over the weekend which was capped with our very last person to start, Sam Coxon, taking Gold in Masters Kumite aged 30+. Some dominated his category and took a very well deserved win.
We also took four excellent Silver medal positions with Sharif Ebrahimi in the Veteran Male Kata, Remi Jurgilaitis in Senior Open Weight Kumite, Joe Hird in Cadet Male Kumite +70kg and Isabella Wilkes in the Girls Kumite Under 12 -40Kg events all performing very well. Joe in particular was agonisingly close to Gold, being scored on in the very last second to lose the Final.
James Harrison and Ellis Pindoria-Stott both took Bronze medals in their respective Kata events, both of which had large entries and required several wins in order to medal.
Overall it was an excellent weekend in Berlin with great results from many of the team.
