Great medal haul for JKS England at the EKF Nationals
The JKS England Squad took part in the English Karate Federation Nationals Championships at the Leicester Arena over the weekend of 14th-15th April.
All the Kata events and the Kumite for those aged 12-15 took place on the Saturday. On Sunday it was only Kumite for those aged 16+ with the Sunday’s Finals.
We had a very good day on the Saturday, ending day one on top of the medal table out of fifty-eight teams competing with four gold medals. We had a good day in Team kata with Ilyas Hamid, James Harrison, Abdulrahman Saif taking Gold in Male Cadet & Junior Team Kata and Thomas Elmore, James Leveridge, Cameron Panday taking Gold in Boys Team Kata 12-13 Years. Alistair Milburn also came away with a superb Gold in the Para Kata, Learning Disabilities category.
Johann Santos yet again showed his consistency and took the U21 Male Kata title following two years of being Junior Male Kata Champion, a great achievement. He is also the reigning British Champion in Junior Male Kata.
There were so many other very good performances against strong opposition in the premier karate event in the English calendar.
At the end of the two days JKS England ended up with more medals (20) than any other team and finished a very credible fifth on the medal table with 4 Gold, 7 Silver and 9 Bronze. Head Coach Matt Price commented “Great weekend at the EKFs English Championships. 5th place out of 58 associations! Well done all. One more Gold would of seen us top the table. A good weekend, great work JKS England!”
The JKS England squad are next in action at the BKF Home Nations in Leicester over the weekend of 26th and 27th May where they will be hoping to become British Champions.
