Fantastic Day at the Kyu Grade Championships
Sunday 18th June was the date for the first ever JKS England Kyu Grades Championships. The event was held at Djanogly City Leisure Centre in Nottingham.
As the organisation grows, the decision was taken that from 2017 we would have 2 championships with the introduction of a Kyu specific tournament. The National Championships will remain in November as ever but with more of a focus on the higher level categories.
The atmosphere as the event was fantastic and a massive well done to all the competitors who provided a full day of entertainment with some really top performances on display. A big thank you also to all the coaches for preparing your students and supporting them on the day, win lose or draw. A big thank you also to all family and friends who came along to support the competitors without whom they would not be able to do what they do.
Thanks must go to Alan Campbell and Wendy Preston for hosting such a superb event and a massive thank you to Sensei Geoff Dixon for his organisation and support of the officials, especially through the transition in learning the new rules.
Finally, a big thank you to all officials and table recorders who gave up their day to ensure that this competition could take place.
There are official photographs of the event available to purchase from Robert Graham Photography (www.rgephotos.com).
