7 Gold, 7 Silver and 12 Bronze medals at the Cumbrian Open
The 2017 Cumbrian Open, held in Penrith, attracted around 40 JKS England Squad members and plenty of other JKS England club competitors on the 11th June.
The Squad had a good day, coming away with 7 Gold, 7 Silver and 12 Bronze medal positions. Leading the way was James Harrison who collected 4 Gold and 1 Bronze medal for his efforts. James won the Cadet Kata, Senior Male Kata (he’s only 15), Junior Pairs Kata (with Rowan Reeve) and Junior Team Kata (with Rowan Reeve and Sam Jackson) whilst also getting a Bronze in Senior Pairs Kata. All in all, an excellent day for this young man who has recently got onto the EKF A Squad for Kata, an excellent achievement in itself.
An excellent performance by David Lister, Jake Pointer and Sam Coxon saw them take the Senior Male Team Kumite title with a win over the always impressive CEK Association in the final.
Two TKF pairings took Gold in Pairs Kata, Danny Jordan and Matthew Yardy wining the Seniors and Maisie Redgrave and Cameron Panday the childrens events respectively.
An excellent day all in all and the Squad will next be in action at the Central England Open in Worcester on the 2nd July.
