Five Golds, Two Silver and Ten Bronze at the Central England Open Championships
On a very hot Sunday 1st July the JKS England squad were competing in the Central England Open Championships at the University of Worcester Sports Areana.
It was a very high standard event with over one thousand competitors and medals hard to come by.
Some of our usual suspects showed their quality in taking Gold medals. Sharif Ebrahimi in Veterans Kata, Joe Hird in cadet Kumite, Jess Maitland and James Harrison in Pairs Kata and James Harrison, Abdul Saif and Ilyas Hamid in Team Kata.
The most exciting event of the day was the very last one, which was the mixed Team Kumite, consisting of one Cadet Girl, one Cadet Boy, one Junior Male, one female aged 16+ and one Senior Male. After 2 hard qualifying rounds, JKS England took Gold with a 3-1 win over Kaisho in the Final. A great way to finish off a long but high quality competition.
