The JKS would like to welcome Stan Smith and his club, the Kensho Budokai to our organisation.
The club is based in Helston in Cornwall and is a welcome addition in the South West of England.
Stan, who is a shodan, started his training in the late 70’s with Doug James in Wado Ryu, before moving back to Scotland and resuming training in Shotokan under the guidance of Sensei Tommy Irvine, Pat McLuskey and Masao Kawasoe
in the early 80’s. He has also trained in Muay Thai, Wing Chun and Tai Chi and previously taught martial arts in the Cornwall area before taking time out to study human psychology at university. After returning to karate he then formed the Kensho Budokai
in Cornwall with the aim of promoting high level karate to the local villages.
On joining JKS Stan commented ”We got in touch with JKS England after being advised of the reputation for the high level karate being offered by the JKS, we are hoping that our clubs will flourish as part of the JKS”.
The club has a website http://www.kenshotigers.com/and a facebook page
